5 Reasons Why Time Outs Work for Grown Ups Too!

My boys have just had 4 weeks off school and nursery - it has flown by to be honest - we had lots of time together, they went to activities and I got a lot of work done working here and there I also did too much! I burnt the candle at both ends socially and completed 1.5k swimathon on Sunday (all crawl I might shout out). On Sunday and Monday I was soooo tired so today I have had a TIME OUT or ME TIME and here are my 5 reasons why:-

1. Exercise is good for you - we all know that BUT do you take time to do some? I swim a lot and today was no exception I swam straight after the school run, bish bosh job done, empty pool too which was cool! Now I am set up for whatever the day brings.

2. I then came home and did some tidying up/decluttering - house feels so much nicer and I feel less overwhelmed.

3. Take it easy to avoid burnout - have no agenda for the day or a couple of hours if you can - after soring the house out I went for a stroll into town and met my mum at a local coffee morning - great to see my mum and her friends taking life so easy - mainly women at this hopefully the men were at a golf or similar? I came home relaxed and chilled.

4. Spoil yourself - finished coffee had an overwhelming urge to purchase something so popped into the local Oxfam, not for clothes I may add, they have the most amazing book section, came out armed with 5 books for a tenner!

5. Just "BE" - I took my lunch and sat in my conservatory, which is built outside against a South facing wall - then moved the chair outside, as the sun was warm and all I could hear were birds and my cat purring. Totally chilled now and back to the PC to write this blog.
