5 Steps to Have More Time with Your Family

Speaking to a fellow mum last night and she leaves ALL the housework, paperwork, laundry, ironing and food shopping etc to do on Saturday! So these tips are for her and others struggling to spend more time with their family!

1. Get a cleaner, mine comes once a week for 2 hours for around £20 a week and does the cleaning, leaving me time to tidy. So worth it!!

2. Order your food shopping online. OK so it takes an hour the first time, 5 mins to do your food shopping basics after that. I buy the rest locally (butchers, bakers, candlestick makers) in the market town where I live and go for coffee afterwards knowing Tesco is taking care of the household staples (washing powder, loo rolls, cat food, dinner, nappies, chocolate).

3. Get your house sorted. I'm not talking making a show house, but put systems in place (more on that in another blog), know where your bits and bobs are. Spend just 15 mins each evening doing a little tidy - putting toys away, getting kids school uniforms and your clothes ready the night before, laundry & ironing every other day. So much easier that letting it all build up and spend your precious weekend sorting it.

4. Set aside an hour a week to sort out your finances - we do it (!) every week on a Monday night = less stress and bills paid on time/no charges/arguments etc.

5. Use the services of a VA or concierge service or just use your travel agent to book your summer holiday - spend your time on what you do best.

5. OK so this bit is boring BUT IT WORKS: create a schedule on your BlackBerry or iPhone of what needs doing around the house each week : food shopping (order online Thurs eve), laundry & ironing (Mon, Wed, Fri) tidying - 15 mins each night, finances - Monday evenings get together with other half for one hour reward a bottle of wine?, then spend the rest of the time with your family and on your hobbies...

Life is short, make the most of yours - if you are struggling with getting your life and home sorted call Caroline today on 0780 313 6023 to discuss creating a life plan that will change your life and make time for you and your family to enjoy the nicer things in life!
